Gabe Kapler Foundation

The Gabe Kapler Foundation holds a special place in the hearts of the CapNet staff. Gabe Kapler, the organization's co-founder and a CapNet board member, has dedicated much of his time and resources to fighting domestic violence. A member of the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series championship team, he founded the charity with his wife, Lisa Kapler, in memory of her own experience with domestic violence as a teenager.

The Gabe Kapler Foundation is a family-run, non-profit foundation dedicated to stopping domestic violence by empowering victims of abuse. Victims are taught to stop the violence perpetuated against them by giving them the tools to live self-sufficient, violence-free lives. The foundation also focuses on preventing the children living in abusive environments from becoming life-long victims or from becoming future abusers.

"While housed in a shelter, each mother must know that her child is nurtured and cared for. This will increase the likelihood that she will remain at the shelter until she can begin a new life-a life free from abuse."

The Kaplers (top left) work with organizations that operate 30-day emergency and 9-month transitional shelters to give victims of domestic violence the education and support they need to free themselves from their abusers. Their support includes providing:

  • Monthly dental/medical exams
  • Workshops that focus on effective parenting
  • Workshops that teach women basic skills
  • Child Care by educators who act as role models for effective problem solving

Since The Kapler Foundation's inception, CapNet has been dedicated to contributing a portion of its profits to the organization every month. In addition to monthly contributions, CapNet sponsors a Holiday drive every year to gather toys for abused mothers and their children. CapNet will continue to do everything we can to help make a difference in the lives of the abused families who have been and will be touched by The Gabe Kapler Foundation. We applaud the Kaplers for the huge impact they had made on the lives of so many families.
