Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the largest and most effective youth mentoring organizations in the United States, contributing to the lives of children in local communities for over 100 years. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors youths, ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country by developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people.

"The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with mentors that have a measurable impact on our youth."

The Mentoring Program Works!

National research has shown that positive relationships between youths and their Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentors have made a direct and measurable impression on children's lives. By participating in the mentoring program, Little Brothers and Sisters are:

  • More confident in their schoolwork performance
  • Able to get along better with their families
  • 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
  • 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
  • 52% less likely to skip school

CapNet has worked directly with Big Brothers Big Sisters for the past 7 years to positively influence the lives of underprivileged youths. It has been a tremendously rewarding experience for us because we've had the opportunity not only to contribute financially, but to really become a part of these children's lives. From holiday gift drives, to attending graduations, to weekly communication and tutoring efforts, we feel blessed to have the chance to interact so closely with these children. One of our most rewarding experiences has been helping parents leave impoverished countries to join their children in the U.S. We encourage you and your company to get involved with your local Big Brother Big Sister Organization.
